Yellowstone season 5 finale was written as a series finale, meaning the episode ends with satisfying endings for several characters that are also new beginnings and great ideas for spinoffs. Paramount previously announced that the fifth season of Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western drama would be its finale. However, in the weeks leading up to its final episode, the network marketed it as a “season” finale rather than a “series” finale, leading many to believe that Yellowstone season 6 was happening.
During season 5, episode 14, “Life Is a Promise,” Casey’s plan to save the ranch comes to fruition. However, while her proposal is brilliant, it also means the Duttons have to give up their land, which is exactly what they did. As a result, by the time the time is about to end, most of the characters are gone from the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in Paradise Valley, including the families, cowboys, and cowgirls. It’s sad to see everyone leave the ranch, but it also means they can embark on new journeys, all of which could be documented in a Yellowstone spinoff.
1.Beth & Rip’s Dillon, Montana Spinoff
Kelly Reilly & Cole Hauser Are Confirmed To Return
The most obvious spinoff in the season 5 finale is that of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. Shortly before the premiere of “Life Is a Promise,” Deadline confirmed that the Rip and Beth Yellowstone spinoff series, which had been rumored for months, has officially begun,. Again, episode 14 perfectly lays the groundwork for the next chapter of Beth and Rip’s lives.

The Madison | Filming | 2025 |
Untitled Yellowstone sequel series with Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler | In development | TBA |

After finally killing her brother, Jamie, and winning the Dutton family war in Yellowstone, Beth leaves the ranch she’s called home her whole life and moves to Dillon, Montana with Rip and Carter. Beth buys property in Dillon, which is located two hours from Yellowstone. There, Beth, Rip, and Carter build a new home for themselves away from tourists and start a new ranch. Based on the finale, Carter should be joining them in the upcoming show, but Finn Little’s return has not been confirmed.
2.Teeter Spinoff In Texas
Travis Hires Teeter In The Yellowstone Season 5 Finale
After Colby’s death in season 5, episode 12, it was only a matter of time that Teeter move on from the Montana ranch, even if Dutton didn’t have to sell it. Yellowstone has a lot of memories associated with Colby. So, it was no surprise when Teeter asked Travis Wheatley for a job at Bosque Ranch during the finale. Unfortunately for him, it comes with a price, as Travis is an arrogant idiot (which is a good way to describe Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone role). But, perhaps, Teeter’s move to Texas will lead to a spinoff featuring the former Yellowstone ranch hand.

6666 has been in the works for several years, with little to no updates on its progress. However, now that Yellowstone is (potentially) over, Sheridan can finally start talking about 6666 and adding Teeter to its list of characters. She is currently working for Travis at Bosque Ranch, but Teeter and Jimmy could easily move to the Four Sixes Ranch to make their involvement in the spinoff possible.
3.Kayce’s East Camp Spinoff
Kayce, Monica, & Tate Start A New Ranch
Instead of moving forward with Yellowstone season 6, Taylor Sheridan could create a new series following Cayce’s next trip to East Camp in Paradise Valley. As part of Cayce’s deal with Chief Rainwater, he and his family are allowed to keep their home on Yellowstone property, where they will start their own ranch. Cayce, Monica, and Tate are making a name for themselves, and it will be interesting to see how their upcoming venture plays out.
Of course, since Cayce and his family still technically live on Yellowstone property, Paramount would probably greenlight a season 6 with Luke Grimes and Kelsey Asbille returning. It would make sense in terms of the story. However, if Sheridan and Paramount are truly ready to move on from Yellowstone (the show) but don’t want to say goodbye to Cayce, they could develop a spinoff focusing on him and his family.
4.Broken Rock Reservation Spinoff
Chief Rainwater Buys The Yellowstone At The End Of Season 5
Just like with Casey’s potential spinoff, Paramount and Taylor Sheridan could move forward with Yellowstone season 6 and focus on the ranch’s new owners – Chief Rainwater and the Broken Rock Reservation. However, focusing on them would make it a completely different TV show. As a result, it might be a better idea to order a spinoff telling what happens next for Chief Rainwater and his people now that they’ve taken back their ancestors’ land.
Sheridan neo-Western drama has always been about the Duttons, and if the family is no longer at the forefront of the story, it’s no longer Yellowstone. However, a spinoff centered around the Broken Rock Reservation would be welcome, especially because Chief Rainwater and the tribe members received very little screen time in Yellowstone season 5, part 2.
5.Ryan & Abby Spinoff
Ryan Reunites With Abby After Leaving The Ranch
By the end of the Season 5 finale, the ranch workers go their separate ways, with some looking for work and others returning to the work that makes them happy. For Ryan, that’s Abby. Unfortunately, the couple split up when Ryan decided to return to his life at the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch and Abby resumed her life as a musician on the road. However, the good news is that Ryan found Abby on tour and convinced her to take him back after one of her concerts during the show’s end.
Ryan decides not to look for any more cowboy work after leaving Yellowstone. Instead, he listens to his heart, which leads him to Abby, and the two Yellowstone Season 5 characters ride off into the sunset together in Episode 14. However, this might not be the final chapter of their story. Lainey Wilson, who plays Abby, is obviously very busy being a bona-fide country music star, but one can only dream about seeing Ryan and Abby back on the small screen.
6.Laramie’s Rodeo Career Spinoff
Walker Will Accompany Laramie After Leaving The Yellowstone
One of the most memorable moments of Season 5, Episode 14 is Walker and Laramie’s next move after leaving the ranch. Laramie plans to return to the rodeo life, and Walker will stay with his girlfriend. The couple didn’t have much of a role in Season 5, Part 2, and Taylor Sheridan could make up for their lack by giving Walker and Laramie their own spinoff. Laramie is working on her rodeo career and Walker is accompanying her, which could make for some good TV. However, given their short screen time, their spinoff is unlikely to happen.
Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 Cast | Role |
---|---|
Kelly Reilly | Beth Dutton |
Wes Bentley | Jamie Dutton |
Luke Grimes | Kayce Dutton |
Cole Hauser | Rip Wheeler |
Kelsey Asbille | Monica Long Dutton |
Gil Birmingham | Chief Thomas Rainwater |
Forrie J. Smith | Lloyd Pierce |
Wendy Moniz | Lynelle Perry |
Moses Brings Plenty | Mo |
Finn Little | Carter |
Dawn Olivieri | Sarah Atwood |
Jefferson White | Jimmy Hurdstrom |
Brecken Merrill | Tate Dutton |
Ian Bohen | Ryan |
Denim Richards | Colby Mayfield |
Ryan Bingham | Walker |
Jennifer Landon | Teeter |
Hassie Harrison | Laramie |
Kathryn Kelly | Emily |
Taylor Sheridan | Travis Wheatley |
Jake McLaughlin | Cade McPhereson |
Bella Hadid | Sadie |
Lainey Wilson | Abby |
A spinoff following Walker and Laramie could easily happen, at least in terms of the actors’ schedules. The Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 actors who play Walker and Laramie, Ryan Bingham and Hassie Harrison, are married in real life. Whatever the case, even if Walker and Laramie don’t get their own Yellowstone spinoff, the couple could still make brief appearances on other shows like Beth and Rip to give viewers an insight into their lives after leaving the ranch.
